My Device:
Jumbo Fiasco

Following their claim to the cup of NME Breaking Band of 2006 and the immediate release of their debut album ‘Nervous System’ the relatively unknown My Device spent the following 6 months proving themselves worthy of the title and winning hearts up and down the country with their impressive energetic live shows.

After notable support slots with Kasabian, Babyshambles and The Enemy, Brighton’s My Device headed back to the studio earlier this summer and emerged with the superb ‘Jumbo Fiasco’ – 14 tracks thrashed out in just 35 minutes, leaving you feeling rather dizzy but strangely craving for more.

Covering topics that range from relationship breakdowns like the angst-ridden ‘Fixxa Uppa’ or the esoteric ‘Slamming Doors’ to dolphins in ‘Show Me The Ropes’ and absurdly big babies in the fantastic ‘Super Tonio’ – this is an insight into the marvelously wild and wacky minds of My Device.

My Device describe ‘Life Is A Blast’ as “an unsarcastic statement of intent”, ‘Fountain Of Youth’ as “a raucous pounder about rain, concrete and feedback” whilst former single ‘Eat Lead’ is “twisted pop mixed with vodka and forced through a meat-press”!

With most tracks under the 3-minute mark, the album is crammed with raw and riotous post-punk charm. Sounding like a frantic mix between The Pixies (especially on ‘Mybear’) and Bad Religion, My Device are a breath of fresh air; doing their own thing, their own way which sets them miles apart from most new bands emerging on the scene in the last couple of years where style over substance seems to prevail.
